About the Scout section

The Scout section is for young people usually aged between 10.5 and 14 years of age.
As a Scout you are encouraged to participate in a variety of activites, challenges and experiences.
Being a Scout helps you to find out about the world you are living in , explore your own values and develop your personal views. As a Scout you are helped  to recongnise your own achievements, given the oppurtunity to develop your creative talents and taught to work as a team, aswel as individually in a fun and working enviroment.
Most importantly in the Scouting section you are given the oppurtuninty to gain life long experiences and friends.
 

In the Scout section there are many badges to work towards and gain. The different sections are shown below.

The Membership and Participation Awards.

The Membership and Participation Awards show that you are aprt of the scouting movement. The purple badge is the Membership award this shows that you belong to the worldwide movement of scouting, it is worn by scouts all over the world. The red badge is a moving on award, it signifies that you have once been in the Cub Scout section and have now moved on to the Scout section.The blue badge is also a moving on award, this is what you will gain when you leave the Scout section if you decide to move on to the Explorer section.

Challenge Badges.
 
The Challenge badges help to extend your Scouting skills an experience. There are 8 different types of challenges as shown below:
 
~ The Outdoor Challenge
~ The Outdoor Plus Challenge
~ The Creative Challenge
~ The Fitness Challenge
~ The Global Challenge
~ The Community Challenge
~ The Adventure Challenge
~ The Expedition Challenge

Activity Badges.
 
In the Scout Section there are 70 Activity badges to work towards and gain. There are also four staged sections to work towards.

Group Awards.
 
As a Scout you are encouraged to work with other members of the group from various sections, the group awards help you to do this. You can achieve these awards by completing activites and projects with other sections.
The themes of the Group Awards are:
 
~ The International Award
~ The Faith Award
~ The Environment Award

Chief Scout's Gold Award.
 
This is the highest award that you can achieve as a Scout.
The award can be gained by completing the following areas:
 
~ the Outdoors Challenge, plus
~ four other challenges, plus
~ a personal challenge
 
It is a great achievement to complete this award as a Scout
